CamSA12-02: Microsoft Update for Multiple Vulnerabilities for February 2012

I. Overview 

Microsoft has released the Microsoft Security Bulletin Summary for February 2012. The information include 4 critical and 5 importants patches.

This vulnerability can allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker could execute arbitrary code, cause a denial of service, or gain unauthorized access to your files or system.

– MS12-009: Vulnerabilities in Ancillary Function Driver Could Allow Elevation of Privilege (2645640)

– MS12-011: Vulnerabilities in Microsoft SharePoint Could Allow Elevation of Privilege (2663841)

– MS12-012: Vulnerability in Color Control Panel Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2643719)

– MS12-014: Vulnerability in Indeo Codec Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2661637)

– MS12-015: Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Visio Viewer 2010 Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2663510)

IV. Solutions

Microsoft has provided updates for these vulnerabilities in the Microsoft Security Bulletin Summary for February 2012, which describes any known issues related to the updates. Administrators are encouraged to note these issues and test for any potentially adverse effects. In addition, administrators should consider using an automated update distribution system such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). Home users are encouraged to enable automatic updates.
